What FTG is all about

Hello! Thank you for taking the time to check in with us and see what we are all about.


Firstly, I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Ben and I have been working in the fitness industry for almost 10 years now. Throughout my journey I’ve had the luxury of working with all types of clients ranging from those who just want to be pain free getting up and sitting down, right through to professional athletes, I would love to say ‘and everything in between’ however if there is one thing I’ve learnt, it is that no client is ever the same.

Below you'll learn a little more about what FTG stands for and how I'm sure it will benefit you.



What is FTG?

FTG - The functional training gym is based on strong foundations and beliefs that we have as trainers when it comes to the style of training we want to deliver. We strive to leave no stone unturned when it comes to ensuring that our system fits with your goals and to ensure you’ll be getting the most out of each session.


The definition of 'functional' means 'to be practical and useful rather than attractive' and we have modelled our gym around this philosophy.

Ultimately, the list is endless in what you can achieve out of this.


Apart from ensuring that what you want to achieve is top of our list, we want every workout, every exercise and every repetition to have as much meaning & transferability towards your everyday life outside of the gym, because let’s be honest - that’s where you’ll be spending most of your time!


Whether it is swinging a golf club, carrying your child, heavy lifting or just being able to sit pain-free at your desk, we hope that we can improve your function of everyday tasks.

That's why we make sure to include as many components of fitness that will not only help with what you want to achieve but will also benefit you in everyday life.


I strongly believe that in every individual, you can make a difference, whatever the situation you can still make changes and ultimately there is never a better time to start… than now.
